We recently reached a settlement on behalf of a man who suffered an injury to his wrist which required a fusion operation. He was driving a vehicle for his employer and was stopped at a stop sign when he was rear-ended and pushed into the path of a vehicle coming through the intersection.
A worker’s compensation case was prosecuted on his behalf in which he received $41,751.31 in medical and TTD benefits. Additionally, he received a worker’s compensation settlement of $57,458.28.
The third-party liability suit was settled with the insurer for the at-fault driver for her policy limits of $20,000, of which $6,666.66 was paid to the worker’s compensation carrier in satisfaction of the worker’s compensation lien.
We then pursued an underinsured motorist claim through the insurance policy covering his employer’s vehicle and received a settlement of $75,000 in underinsured motorist insurance benefits.
After paying the worker’s compensation lien, the client received total compensation for his injuries from the worker’s compensation, liability, and underinsured motorist claims in the amount of $187,542.93.
